OMOLUABI: THE ONLY ACCEPTABLE YARDSTICK !! The concept of ‘Omoluabi’ in Yoruba moral parlance refers to a total wrap that covers the definition of a thorough-bread perfect gentleman. An ‘omoluabi’ is an epitome of high level integrity, dignity, sincerity, trustworthiness, kindness and selflessness. By his action, relationship with others and spoken words, an ‘omoluabi’ is clearly identified and understood. When he promises, he fulfils. He does not betray trust, he does not disrespect people and never lies. An ‘omoluabi’ does not use harsh, offensive, unacceptable or insulting words on anybody. He respects all, including his subordinates and spouse. He treats people with utmost courtesy and his is not rude, arrogant nor pompous. He is gentle, kind, friendly and considerate. To b be an ‘omoluabi’, one is seen to have adapted perfectly, to the acceptable societal norms of any Yoruba community.
