ALAKE ADEYEMO: A UNIQUE POLITICAL BRAND (28TH MAY, 2019)

ALAKE ADEYEMO: A UNIQUE POLITICAL BRAND (28TH MAY, 2019)

The “Great Man Theory” of leadership assumes that the capacity for leadership is inherent and that great leaders are born. It teaches us that leaders are exceptional people, born with innate qualities destined to lead.
In a few hours, on the 29th of May, 2019 precisely, our father and elder statesman, Sir Moses Alake Adeyemo, shall wind down and bow out after serving meritoriously as the Deputy Governor of Oyo State for eight good years. A position that providence and destiny thrust on his lap at a time when he thought he has given enough in service to humanity. One position that has put him into various delicate and dangerous tests and queries before the people he serves and even God. Our joy is that Elder Alake did not fail in his duty. This is not a partisan patronage and those who know my political lining cannot agree less.
A 1979 graduate of University of Nigeria, Nsukka (UNN), Sir Moses Alake, an indigene of Igboho, Oorelope Local Government of Oyo State, came into governance with a wealth of experience in the finance and banking sector where he was very successful. He is a transformational leader, an astute administrator, an advocate of peace and a bridge builder. He has in him, an excellent touch of the old progressives. He is an Awoist par excellence right from his youthful days, a cosmopolitan elite who never disconnected with the grassroots.
The retiring Deputy Governor of Oyo State is a very simple man who handles governance with so much dexterity, humility and habitual calmness. He showcases dignity and integrity at all times. He detests all vices that contradict moral values and he promotes justice and equity in all his dealings. Alake is a happy man and he transfers happiness to whoever comes his way by solving their problems, meeting their needs and also doling out to them, a high dosage of humour.
Sir Alake is a very courageous man with a fearless intuition. He is always guided by the principle of the “truth” which he believes has the leeway to set a man free in all circumstances. He talks only when necessary. He is not a man to be cowed so cheaply. He is a fearless lion (remember he is a graduate of the UNN) when it comes to the defense and protection of the people of Oyo State, especially his primary constituency, the Oke-Ogun. In all these, he is a loyal subordinate of his boss and a wonderful team player of note. He has successfully deployed his wealth of experience in the delivery of dividends of democracy, development and noticeable impact on the people he has the privilege of serving.

Sir Alake is also a serial promoter of peace and harmonious cohabitation in all the corners of the state. His doors are open to all. He preaches tolerance by action and in speeches. As a christian who Christ lives in, he never runs away from his Islam background, he reads Quran verses openly in public functions and he buried his Muslim aged mother few weeks ago in a manner never seen before.

An ardent lover of education, he has promoted government policies on quality education, he lends a loud voice into the model schools, teachers' welfare, as well as infrastructure. He sees education as a right of citizens and not privilege. He has assisted so many in the pursuit of their academic adventures. He offers free mentorship to willing youths, he supports young people on their journeys to self-discovery and he is a huge source of inspiration and motivation to the younger generation.
Elder Alake has added an enviable beautiful brand of leadership in the last eight years and he has represented with pride and not arrogance, the good people of Oke-Ogun as a worthy ambassador and a transformational leader. This brings excitement and sweet ululation that eases the path of his successor in office, the new deputy governor-elect, Engr. Remi Olaniyan, another fearless lion (from the UNN), a seasoned professional, an administrator per excellence with serial records of multiple successes, a big lover of his people, a philanthropist and a servant-leader.
Sir Moses Alake Adeyemo, as you round up your tenure of office as the Deputy Governor of Oyo State, we are delighted and we are very proud that your integrity that you put to bear 8 years ago remains intact and your good name remains with no blemish of any kind.
We congratulate you and pray to God almighty to grant you more years in good health, peace, happiness and more grace to serve humanity.
May the years ahead be the most treasured ones!
